I don’t get political on here very often. Partially, it’s because I haven’t felt as politically combative the last few months– a little bit of 2008 election cycle fatigue, I think.
Today, though, I’m frustrated. By problems around the world I feel powerless to help and by a media that is only sort of covering an incredibly important event that will effect us. It’s not just that the Iranian election will have consequences for our own foreign policy. We should care because our fellow human-being is being denied basic rights now, and they– especially the women of Iran, who have seen freedoms rolled back by Ahmadinejad the last four years– will only have more rights stripped from them.
So I use Bloglines to organize my RSS feeds. Helps me keep track of the many, random websites I tend to read on any given day. For some reason, today, it’s been glitching on me like crazy, gathering stories from various times over the last 1-2 years.
Here are a few of the BREAKING NEWS stories my RSS feed would like me to know about:
Lots of Doctor Who news trickling out the last few weeks.
Some random thoughts from this week:
I know I promised a top ten sitcoms list, and I’ll get there, but midterms snuck up on me and, well, I think failing a midterm because I’m working on a top ten sitcoms
list would probably not go over well with anyone. Still, had to share this piece of news.
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT MOVIE NEWS!
YES. Best pop-culture news all week.
I love Michael Cera, but if he kept dragging his feat on this, I was going to have to stop liking him. It would have made me do this.
I think Pop-Pop’s threat to drag him, kicking and screaming if he had to, to the set finally got threw to him.
In honor of this news, I will now perform my own verison of the chicken dance.
(I was also going to make a “I just blue myself” joke but I thought, you know, not appropriate).
More celebratory Arrested Development-ness…
